Hannah Frank

Glasgow Artist

Hannah Frank, was born in Glasgow in 1908, she studied at Glasgow University and The Glasgow School of Art. Hannah reached the grand age of 100 before sadly passing away in 2008.

Hannah's haunting black and white drawings are resonant of the Art Nouveau period and with a hint of Aubrey Beardsley and Jessie King. She took up sculpture in the 1950's, studying with Benno Schotz; and her drawings and sculpture were exhibited in the Royal Glasgow Institute, the Royal Academy, and the Royal Scottish Academy, throughout her artistic career.

Hannah produced over 80 drawings between 1925 and 1952, before turning to sculpture. A small selection of the drawings have, up until now, only been available as art prints. All this has now changed; the new collaboration between Fiona Frank (Hannah's niece and champion), Hannah Frank and 2canvas means that Hannah Frank fans can purchase large scale reproductions, on canvas, of every one of the images.

A copy of the book, 'Hannah Frank A Glasgow Artist', (2004, revised and updated by Fiona Frank, published by the Scottish Jewish Archives Centre, is available at the 2canvas gallery from which client's can select the images that they'd like to be reproduced as a canvas artwork. The book is also available for purchase through the gallery.
