Karl williams
Glasgow/West coast Photographer
Karl first took up photography at the beginning of the 1970s when working as a Civil Engineer in southern Africa. Following a long break during which work and family responsibilities took precedence, he has recently taken it up again “.. as something to keep my brain active when I retire in a year or so ..”.
His subjects are wide and varied, ranging from landscapes, both natural and urban, through wildlife to exterior and interior architectural detail. He is currently concentrating on building up his collection of images of Glasgow which are intended to portray the city in a more creative manner than that of “postcard-type” shots.
Although a comparatively recent convert to digital photography, he enjoys the newfound freedom of being in total control of the entire process of image production from start to finish. “I’ll use any and every digital manipulation technique to get the result I want rather than the result to which I used to be limited by the capability of the film and the darkroom process”. Much of his recent work makes use of the HDR (High Dynamic Range) imaging technique.
Karl is currently based in Glasgow.
